We’ve all felt the pains of waiting eagerly for a package or parcel, but then missing the delivery of said handbag/gadget/book because life called and you left your home. Thankfully, Yves Behar and technology entrepreneur Jason Johnson have taken the worry out of that familiar situation. The pair have added a new system — or ‘ecosystem’ as Behar and Johnson refer to it — to their August smart lock brand. Called August Access, where you can control who goes in and out of your house through your smart phone or through a remote control, you can think of it as the house keys of the future.
'House keys are still being lost, misplaced and copied, and the world is rapidly changing, as people have come to expect full visibility into who is entering and exiting their homes,' said Behar. 'Services are being created to transform the world of home delivery, and we are proud to say that the new August ecosystem is at the epicenter of this transformation.'
August Home Access System includes several new products — the August Smart Keypad, the August Doorbell Cam and of course, the original, albeit updated August Smart Lock. The August Smart Lock, which now features a covered with chrome piece that allows its owner to detect whether the door is locked, is installed first and can be controlled via a smart phone or August's Smart Keypad. The August Doorbell Cam lets people see just exactly who is at the door through a motion sensor camera. Users can also see when the person is in and out of the house and is able to speak to them.
August Access provides entry for everything else, whether it’s letting in dog walkers or deliveries, or letting your houseguest in to pick up keys while you’re stuck at the office. The system has partnered up with network of companies, such as Sears, Postmates, Bloom Nation, Wag! and Doorman for even easier access. Imagine a world of never having to miss a delivery again.
