Reinventing one of its most popular devices, audio-technology brand Astell&Kern has launched a limited copper edition of the flagship AK380 music player.
A luxurious alternative to typical music players, the new unit’s casing is milled from a solid, 1.7kg block of copper and hand-finished by skilled craftsmen. Ensuring durability as well as sophistication, the copper casing has undergone a four-stage anti-oxidisation process, with a carbon-fibre backing attached for extra strength.
Although stylish, the limited edition AK380 still fulfills its fundamental duty as a piece of superlative technology, guaranteeing a superior standard of audio through an improved electrical conductivity and shielding performance. Claiming to offer a ‘class-leading spec’, the new music device comes equipped with the same features as the standard AK380 – such as advanced jitter reduction and native DSD playback. It can, of course, be used with Astell&Kern's accessories, including a headphone amp module that creates, climactically, the ‘ultimate performance’.
Crafted as a statement piece as much as a music player, the new AK380's black screen and aluminium backing are beautifully juxtaposed with the warm copper casing. The level of attention to detail, through the lavish embellishment and bespoke leather case, exudes elegance in a tech market already bursting with similar wares.
With its glamorously conceived casing and advanced audio ability, we have no doubt that customers will be all ears.
