Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher have taken retail design and given it a curvilinear kick into the next generation with this visionary space in Tokyo for Neil Barrett.
Barrett, who cut his teeth at Prada menswear, teams traditional British tailoring with hi-tech fabrics – an old meets new approach that even influenced the location of his store. Rather than making Barrett’s unique pieces fit the rack, Hadid reshaped the way ready-to-wear is presented, basing her architecture-meets-sculpture design on the silhouette of the Devon designer’s collections, even adding folds, pleats and cut-outs
