Behind the set: step into the ring at Philipp Plein’s A/W 2015 spectacle
By now, we’ve learnt to have pretty high expectations when it comes to a Philipp Plein fashion show. There’s been a digital underwater wonderland - created with the help of three-dimensional deep-sea projections for the German designer’s S/S 2015 womenswear presentation - not to overshadow his men’s show that same season featuring an Olympic-sized pool complete with synchronised swimmers and suited men riding jet skis.
Nor is Mr Plein shy of a musical act. This season he called up Snoop Dogg to set the tone for his adrenaline-fuelled gangster’s paradise. The rapper performed both pre- and post-show within the set’s caged boxing ring, which was otherwise used for a live mixed martial arts match, starring world champion Demolition Man.
Conceived by production impresarios Villa Eugenie, even more mesmerising is the simple fact that the sizeable spectacle took some six days to construct within Milan’s Teatro Alcione, which you can see here - albeit substantially sped up.
