El Bandido, Bogotá, Colombia

Colombia has done much to leave its bad-boy image behind. The capital’s latest obsession is its burgeoning restaurant scene, currently ruled by El Bandido Bistro, sister to the popular rooftop bar, El Coq. Architect and owner Felipe Rodriguez, with his interiors sidekick Mariana Vieira riding shotgun, raided the flea markets and antique stores of Buenos Aires for vintage tiles and second-hand Charles and Ray Eames pieces to give the restaurant its modern, festive feel. Rodriguez’s musical hero, Nicolas Jaar, provided the inspiration for the name with his melodic, blue-wave dance track ‘El Bandido del Amo’ (The Love Bandit)
