It was his upbringing in rural north Wales that instilled in him a fascination for frenetic urbanism, says Ceri Williams. ‘My awe of cities led me to take an interest in their component parts,’ he explains. Williams’ approach to his craft harks back to the drawing board era; though well-versed in CAD, he also enjoys creating axonometic drawings using 0.25 Rotring pens, brushes or ink, believing that ‘every line should be thought about in that way.’ His two final projects responded to sites around Newport, and obviously were a hit with Toh Shimazaki, for whom he is now working. Catch him while you can – he’s imminently off to Barcelona, before completing his diploma in London.

Would most like to work with: Peter Cook, Herzog and de Meuron, Vivienne Westwood and Anish Kapoor.
