Design Awards 2010

The inaugural collection from French perfume house Honoré des Prés features five certified organic scents that contain 100 per cent natural ingredients. Free from petrochemical products, synthetic perfumes and colouring agents, and produced without animal testing or ingredients of animal origin, the range is the first to successfully merge ethical concerns and fine fragrances. Honoré des Prés founder Christian David asked highly experienced nose Olivia Giacobetti to tackle the technical challenge of creating refined and rounded scents using only natural ingredients. She came up trumps, designing the range's five complex and original unisex eaux de toilette. Included are the earthy, aphrodisiac Chaman's Party and the summery, romantic Bonté's Bloom. Particular attention was paid to the perfumes' packaging; the innovative concertina-ed box, created by furniture designer Delphine Magisson, acts as both outer packet and protection.
