A nexus for all things design, and home to DesignSingapore Council (the national agency for design) the former convent building hosts exhibitions, events and programmes. Showing from this spring is ‘Fifty Years of Singapore Design’, an exhibition that pays tribute to Singapore’s 50th year of independence by documenting its developing design landscape. Featuring over 200 iconic, pivotal and popular designs across visual communication, product and industrial design, fashion and accessories, and environmental design, the exhibition captures the spirit of Singaporean creativity through the decades. The 120-year-old, art deco building is also home to the excellent Kapok NDC, an offshoot of the cult lifestyle and design boutique, located on the ground floor. §
