At the back of Cole’s, L.A.’s oldest restaurant, and behind an oak door marked only with a framed drawing of a cocktail, this haunt’s design is more turn-of-the-century than Prohibition-era—with cushioned, slatted-wood booths and a penny-tile floor—but the private demeanor and handcrafted cocktails fit into the modern speakeasy standard.
