Visual Acoustics: the Modernism of Julius Shulman
Winner of several awards including Best Documentary at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Lone Star Festival,‘Visual Acoustics – The Modernism of Julius Schulman’ is an elegant, considered and unreservedly lavish expose of the most prolific architectural photographer of our time.
Intimate, insightful and aesthetically astute - Schulman’s unique photographic depictions of buildings by the likes of Frank Gehry, Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe were key in Modernism’s stellar ascension to 20th century architectural dominance.
Narrated by Dustin Hoffman and directed by Eric Bricker, ‘Visual Acoustics’ is as concerned with Schulman’s work as it is with the man himself – a dedicated humanist and architectural advocate up until his death earlier this year. Bricker’s exposé provides a fitting epitaph for this art-world monolith. One to watch.
Directed and produced by Eric Bricker.
