Valentino: Where tribal masks usually aim to conceal the wearer, they eclectically adorned her at Valentino this season with all manner of warrior rings. Evoking carnival as much as ritual, sculptural bone necklaces and bracelets designed by artist-cum-jeweller Alessandro Gaggio were also heavily featured, completing the show’s avant-garde, Masai-inspired looks. Saint Laurent: Tiaras adorned the heads of almost all of Hedi Slimane’s spring maidens, creating a string of grunge-princesses that channelled Courtney Love, circa her Hole era. Intended to be less Disney-fantasy and more Glastonbury-mainstage, the tiaras were the perfect rock clique finishing touch. Photography: Jason Lloyd-Evans

Gucci: Alessandro Michele’s penchant for antique-effect jewels lavished every finger of his new Gucci girl as if keepsakes fossicked from a long lost Aunt’s jewellery box. Aged gold, tiger-head rings were jewelled in retro hues, while glittering clips, pins, brooches and double-G belt buckles further embellished spring’s print rich collection. Christopher Kane: Master Kane always thinks a little left of centre and for spring plastic cable-ties became his preferred method of embellishment. Less jewellery and more playful trimming, the cables were layered in colourful tangles around the neck and wrists – effectively tying the whole season together. Photography: Jason Lloyd-Evans

Proenza Schouler: Zesty, dangling earrings brightened up the largely monochromatic looks at Proenza Schouler’s New York outing. The fluid, flamenco flavour of the duo’s S/S 2016 show was neatly counteracted by their bold and blocky ear-wear in neon orange and lemon. Photography: Jason Lloyd-Evans

JW Anderson: Building on his popular puzzle choker, and still nodding firmly towards the 1990s, JW Anderson’s metallic neckpiece made a return for spring, even peeking out from under his high necklines. Inspired by the work of American sculptor Richard X Zawitz – known for his infinity stainless steel ’tangle creations’ – the twisting strands of Anderson’s latest choker also reflected his collection’s Keith Haring squiggle prints.
