Throwing shapes: Darkroom celebrates five years in style
Continuing its fascination with shape symmetry, Darkroom is celebrating its fifth birthday with five new products centred around geometric shapes
Continuing its fascination with shape symmetry, Darkroom is celebrating its fifth birthday with five new products centred around five geometric shapes: Circle, Triangle, Square, Semi-circle and Ziggurat. The collection debuts at the London Design Festival in September 2015 and will be sold at Darkroom's flagship store in London.
In contrast to their usual delicate jewellery designs, which showcase the aesthetics of simple geometric shapes, this new collection is a bolder statement with a more industrial edge, combining block alphabet block letters with slender gold and silver.
The range also includes scented candles, housed in reusable cork and spun-metal cases. But the star of their collection has to be the soft lambswool blankets, edged in multi-coloured blanket stitch, which brings out the black and white or greyscale shapes woven into the fabric. Their hand-dyed woven kilims use strong colour contrasts to similarly striking effect, and resulting in the very best blankets you can own. Darkroom has also collaborated with San Francisco enamelware brand Crow Canyon, which hand-dips its tableware in enamel, making each piece unique.
Whether it's the triangle, circle or even the ziggurat that draws you in, this collection is a bold and tasteful birthday party for Darkroom.

The where the process by which the enamel plates are created is celebrated in the unique marks created by each dip

The blankets are a statement piece, with stitched alaphabet detailing, to bring the whole collection together
The fragrances of the scented candles were developed in Paris and the candles are housed in reusable cork and spun-metal cases
By collaborating with companies such as enamelware brand Crow Canyon from San Francisco, Darkroom shows its dedication to quality of product as well as consistency of design
