ME — Miami, USA
In Miami, proximity to the beach is practically a legal requirement. Interesting then that the new ME Miami is none the poorer for trading the de rigueur sea frontage for a downtown spot that’s within spitting distance of the Adrienne Arsht Center, American Airlines Arena, Perez Art Museum and Miami Worldcenter.
Zyscovich Architects and interior designers Proffetional Group and ASAH have turned the former landmark Casa Moderna into a sparky 129-room retreat where the top category rooms go by hashtags like Style Suites and Personality Suites. The furnishings of oak and metallic fabrics, and cowhide-clad Eames chairs are matched with sexually provocative images by up and coming photographer Alberto Van Stokkum, while glimpses of the original marmara marble offer hints of the former Casa Moderna.
There are almost no bad angles to the hotel – views open to either downtown’s skyline or shimmering edge of Biscayne Bay. More sybaritic distractions come by way of a SkinC spa and a thick cut of filet mignon and DJ in the in-house restaurant STK.
