Buyers, editors and fashion obsessives have turned their attention to the A/W 2022 womenswear shows, which kicked off in February in New York. Now, as Milan Fashion Week has finished and Paris Fashion Week kicks off, we present all you need to know about the A/W 2022 womenswear season, from burgeoning and behemoth brands alike.
Fashion Week womenswear A/W 2022
New York Fashion Week 12 –16 February 2022
New York Fashion Week A/W 2022 included physical runway shows by stalwarts such as Coach, Tory Burch, Gabriela Hearst, Khaite, Michael Kors, Jason Wu and Proenza Schouler. It also featured shows by a host of exciting emerging men’s and women’s brands, including Puppets and Puppets, Connor McKnight, and Interior, plus the sophomore show from Peter Do. Tom Ford, who was scheduled to close New York Fashion Week, announced the cancellation of his brand’s show, due to implications of the Omicron variant. The Row has also moved onto the Paris Fashion Week show schedule.
London York Fashion Week 17 – 22 February 2022
The British Fashion Council (BFC) has released the official schedule for London Fashion Week A/W 2022, which will take place several weeks after the UK government’s lifting of most Covid-19 social restrictions. On 27 January 2022, the wearing of face masks in an indoor setting was made non-compulsory. On the joint men’s and women’s schedule for the upcoming season? London favourites including Roksanda, Erdem, Wallpaper* Design Awards 2022 judge Simone Rocha, and Molly Goddard, alongside fledgling labels such as Nensi Dojaka, Supriya Lele, SS Daley, Ahluwalia and Daniel W Fletcher.
Milan Fashion Week 22 – 28 February 2022
Expect physical shows from labels including Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Versace and Prada. Gucci is also making a return to the schedule after a two-year hiatus, Bottega Veneta will present its first collection by newly appointed creative director Matthieu Blazy, and Diesel will present on the runway under creative director Glenn Martens.
Paris Fashion Week 28 February – 8 March 2022
The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) has announced the official Paris Fashion Week women’s A/W 2022 schedule, which includes a bumper week of shows from leading and emerging labels, including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Rick Owens, Miu Miu and Saint Laurent. New York stalwarts The Row and Vaqeura are making their first appearances at Paris Fashion Week and Copenhagen designer Cecilie Bahnsen presentes her first fully fledged runway show in the French city.
