Built on a neglected Brownfield site at the heart of Shoreditch in East London, the Prototype House was designed by architects Tessa Cox and Oliver Bullied after they bought the site from Hackney Council back in 2000. Award winning and designed as a model for green urban terraced housing, the Prototype is built around its myriad sustainable features, ranging from a solar-controlled façade to a solar thermal hot water system. The exterior aesthetic of the house is also pretty special, with its glass and steel façade coated in a cascade of greenery.
%AThe Prototype House is open to visitors on Sunday 20th September from 10am until 5pm with tours available on a first-come-first-served basis.
