Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2009, Kensington Gardens W2 3XA
Courtesy of one of the most high profile international architects of the moment, this years Serpentine Gallery Pavilion sits like an aluminum paint splodge against the greenery of Kensington Gardens. SANAA, consisting of Japanese architectural pair Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, was this year commissioned to create the summer-long addition to the Serpentine. Responsible for New York’s blocky New Museum of Contemporary Art, the shimmering light weight pavilion sat upon a selection of spindly metallic legs is a move away from the pairs more robust projects.
%AThe pavilion will be open to the public from 10am until 10pm on both Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th of September. Entry is on a purely first-come-first-serve basis.
