Prototypes and Experiments, London

Last year we brought news of Daniel Charny’s rolling exhibition at The Aram Gallery in London of prototypes and experimental designs – aptly named 'Prototypes and Experiments'. Intended as an exercise in lifting the curtain of the designer’s mind, giving access to the concrete manifestation of an idea rather than a fully-fledged piece of furniture, fresh from a production line it was one of our quieter exhibition highlights of 2008.

The idea was simple enough and, as is so often the case, the simplicity made for a charming and intriguing display. Each of the pieces was for sale and every time one sold, it would be replaced with another. Now, almost a year later the collection has been entirely refreshed and hence we thought it time to highlight some of our new favourites.
