London Design Festival 2017 preview
Summer may be winding down in London, but things in the British capital are just hotting up. The London Design Festival (16-24 September) is set to kick off this week, with galleries, museums and studios in all corners of the metropolis poised for action. This year – in addition to popular staples like the Landmark projects and V&A installations – the festival is upping the ante, introducing Mayfair as the newest bustling design hub, as well as the inaugural Design Frontiers exhibition at Somerset House. From Shoreditch’s hidden pockets to Chelsea’s well-heeled design district, we’ve mapped out the top 20 exhibitions, installations and events not to be missed...

Faye Toogood has offered up one of her aluminium ‘Spade’ chairs to 50 fellow creatives, from 6A Architects to fashion designer Phoebe English. In return, each of them has donated a piece of their own to her exhibition. The items respond to the British designer’s aesthetics, and celebrate the idea of trade and collection. What’s more, visitors can also enjoy a site-specific installation by food designers Arabeschi di Latte. Now that’s food for thought.
