Hardy Amies' new Savile Row sibling
British menswear brand Hardy Amies has extended its Savile Row presence, opening a sibling store near its number 14 stalwart. London-based firm Universal Design Studio led the project, fusing references to the original Georgian house's proportions, wood paneling and Portland stone with contemporary display cases fashioned from Welsh, bush-hammered limestone and all manner of industrial light fixtures.
Linking to London - but deftly avoiding the capital's clichés - patriotic references include the British-designed furniture featured throughout and tiles sourced from the same supplier that services the city's Underground Tube platforms. Offering ready-to-wear, evening and formalwear as well as a selection of specially commissioned goods, this 'brother' store caters to the modern city man with a soft spot for traditional British garb.
