Royal Festival Hall, Festival Square, Belvedere Road SE1 8XX
Built as part of the Festival of Britain by Holland, Hannen & Cubitts for London County Council, the iconic modernist cultural centre was officially opened in 1951. Built to seat 2,900 people, the Festival Hall underwent a major refurbishment at the hands of LCC Architects Department and Allies and Morrison in 2007, which both enhanced the acoustics and comfort, and increased the previously inadequate audience facilities and accessibility. %A
%AThe Royal Festival Hall will be open to members of the public on both Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September from between 10am and 1pm with behind the scenes tours at 10am, 11am and 12 noon. The tours are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
