While it's the proliferation of pop-ups that will dominate the capital's design map for the cognoscenti over the coming week, the London Design Festival this year also leaves a happy legacy of more permanent additions to the city's already eclectic mix of shops showcasing the most elegant, the most beautiful and the most groundbreaking in design.
Take, for instance, Tom Dixon, that most revered designer-maker at the vanguard of British design, who after almost three decades in the business this year launches his first ever standalone store. Or, Moooi - the 'serious company with a smile' according to one of its co-founders, Casper Vissers - which has chosen this week to open the doors to its first showroom in Portobello Dock.
