Perched at the top of the brand new W Hotel Amsterdam in a former telephone exchange building, Mr. Porter is a rooftop cocktail bar and restaurant by one of the city’s most prolific operators, Yossi Eliyahoo, whose Entourage Group includes establishments such as Momo, Izakaya and the W hotel’s grand ground floor establishment, The Duchess.
Designed once again by Tel Aviv-based BK Architects, golden hues and plush brass and leather deliver the requisite touch of hotel luxe without taking away from the commanding rooftop views. Being Amsterdam, rooftops are exactly why you will see; namely of stately canal houses on one side and the dome of Dam palace on the other.
Before entering the space a walkway leads past a glass display of dry aged meat, making no bones that high-end steak is the restaurant’s culinary focus. At the bar, cocktails and a DJ cape off the night for some, while kick starting it for others…
