Salone del Mobile 2016 preview
The design calendar’s most significant event is fast approaching. Assembling in Milan, devotees will be prepping to take on the city for the annual Salone del Mobile (12-17 April), marking the unofficial start to the design season. The ever-growing affair spreads itself over the Italian metropolis from pockets of Brera district travelling all the way to the Rho fairground with the vast installations, new releases and parties getting even more avant-garde and innovative each year. In all the bustle, navigating around the plethora of showcases can be tricky, so we have conveniently picked out the top 25 exhibitions that are not to be missed…

The grand dame of design’s cabinet of curiosities once again presents a vastly eclectic collection of new designs. From Patricia Urquiola’s first collaboration with Danish brand Georg Jensen (inspired by the lines of Sigvard Bernadotte’s work for the company in the 1930s), to brass experts Ghidini Bosco’s new brand, Ghidini 1961 (with designs by the like of Nika Zupanc, Richard Hutten and the Campana Brothers). Danish furniture editor Karakter presents a series of re-editions of shelving units designed by Italian architect Achille Castiglioni between the 1950s and 1990s.
