Celebrating its 80th anniversary, Molteni looks back at the manufactory history of Italy, combining its industrial and cultural memory under one spectacular roof. The reins of the exhibition were given to Jasper Morrison, who dissected the Molteni history, presenting it through 44 pieces that range from early design prototypes by young creators to pieces by Aldo Rossi, Tobia Scarpa and Richard Sapper. The furniture will be displayed alongside art collections of local industrialists Carlo Grassi and Giuseppe Vismara with works that range from Lombard painting to pieces by Picasso, Cezanne and Manet. A digital element (both at the show and as a separate website) was curated by Francesca Molteni, and provides further details, images and information on the company’s past and present.
