Fab 40: Method Spa, London
The members club, Home House, has always been a great place to dehydrate with a cocktail or three in slightly worn grandeur (until, that is, the decor updated last year with the addition of a bar designed by Zaha Hadid). But since this summer this decadent drinking hole has become the hot destination for those in need of rehydration too.
The vaults of the Grade I listed Robert Adam building, which previously held only body-maintenance essentials - a plunge pool, steam room and gym - have been transformed into a fully-fledged spa. The design details are not exactly state of the art since planning restrictions on the building meant there was a lot that couldn’t be done - the old ovens of what was once the kitchen, share a wall with Technogym’s latest machines.
But the concept of the new Method Spa, open to the paying public aswell as members, is boundary shifting. Conceived and run by the UK’s cult facialist, Anastasia Achilleos, the offerings are a results-driven mix of the holistic and organic, high-tech equipment and product, together with ancient massage and therapy techniques.
Achilleos travels the world sourcing the best products and technologies, testing all with a passion. As a result, her treatments are some of the best you will find anywhere in the world and her bespoke facial (albeit at a slight stress-inducing price of £345) is transforming.
