Fab 40: AU*M, Rhône-Alpes
French practice AU*M is an established architectural force in the Rhône-Alpes area, with offices spreading across four different cities– Lyon, Oyonnax, Roanne and Villefranche-sur-Saône – overseen by a five-strong directing team, Edouard Minassan, Yves Duvernois, Pierre Minassian, Gilles Peillon and Jean Claude Rerolle.
The artful Biscuit House in the Lyon area is the architects’ latest residential gem. The project required hours of handwork for the realisation of its elaborate perforated untreated Iroko Tree wood curtain wall, which, combined with the fully glazed east façade, opens up the house to the rolling landscape. In the pipeline are several more private houses, our favourite of which is the White Snake House, a long flowing white transparent volume, due for completion next year.
