A motivated Philipp Plein takes to the running track for the debut of his sportswear line

For the launch of his luxury sportswear line Plein Sport, German fashion designer Philipp Plein brought a new functionality to his fantastical runway sets, teaming up once again with art director and regular collaborator Simon Costin. Plein’s athletic models took to the catwalk wielding kettle bells and boxing gloves, set against a motivational speaker soundtrack. ‘Plein Sport has been designed to be used in the gym, on the track and for sports that demand a high level of wear,’ explains Costin. The nine-day set build included a functioning gymnasium and full parkour range, mounted by a UK team during the catwalk show in Milan. ‘We have gymnasts with incredible upper body strength, sprinters with muscular legs, boxers, weight lifters and runners,’ says Costin of the models that walked in the show. ‘The set gave each of these different disciplines the chance to show what they do best.’
