Salone del Mobile 2012: the Wallpaper* Edit

Having reached the half-century mark last year, the 51st edition of the world’s biggest and brightest furniture fair perhaps ought to be a more subdued affair. But the Salone del Mobile in Milan is showing no signs of slowing down with age. Instead, this year - more than any in recent history - the fair and the ‘Fuorisalone’ activities seem actively rejuvenated with a flurry of beautifully packaged new brands launching, smooth new faces on the scene, and (most intriguingly) a flurry of dynamic ideas and energetic initiatives that promise to diminish all premature signs of design fatigue in an instant.
