Lab Architecture & Bates Smarts Federation Square
A draw-card for Melbourne, this distinctive set of structures includes gallery space for the
National Gallery of Victoria, the
Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and an indoor auditorium for music and theatre. Together with shops, restaurants and bars, the development surrounds
Federation Square. The Zinc-clad triangles (solid and perforated) cladding the buildings create dynamic forms. Like Melbournes laneways, architectural lines dart in and out of the square.
