It's not every day we have the honour of working one-on-one with creative stars like Louise Bourgeois, Zaha Hadid and Rei Kawakubo, so to celebrate the milestone, our second guest editors issue and our biggest edition of the year, we moved proceedings to downtown Manhattan for an evening of exquisite art, fine dining, and lots of cognac, courtesy of Louis XIII.

In honour of Ms B, who lives in New York, Wallpaper* Editor-in-Chief Tony Chambers, along with Helmut Lang and Roni Horn (both of whom contributed to her guest section), threw a decadent three stage bash befitting the nonagenarian art legend.

Populated by an eclectic crowd including photographer Bruce Weber, Comme des Garçons president Adrian Joffe, artists Donald Baechler and Ahn Duong, and ck Calvin Klein creative director Kevin Carrigan and creative director of Calvin Klein menswear Italo Zucchelli, the night began with a cocktail preview at the Cheim & Read gallery of a new exhibition of Bourgeois' work.

An intimate dinner for 40 followed at the stunning 21st-floor Chelsea Glass Houses, with the soiree culminating in an indulgent tasting of aged Louis XIII cognac, one of the finest drops around. A grand time for all and a fitting testament to an astonishing artist.
