The last-maker, the stitcher, the clicker and the closer – these are the team traditionally involved in the craft of shoemaking. But here at Wallpaper* we wondered what would happen if we brought a different set of specialists together to create a shoe. The bespoke Mayfair tailor, the Swiss technical fabrics manufacturer and the London graphics design agency, say? That’s the thinking behind Wallpaper’s latest special product line in collaboration with luxury Italian shoemaker Alberto Guardiani, which this year celebrates 30 years of high-end men’s shoe production. We’ve brought together tailor Thom Sweeney, Schoeller Textiles and graphic designers Revenge is Sweet to create a spring/summer 2012 capsule collection.
Overseen by Wallpaper* fashion director Sébastien Clivaz, this superlative team has come up with two stylish designs – a lace-up and a suede/canvas loafer – each in four different colours. Contemporary, yet classic, the shoes stand apart for their tailoring, their tough and water-repellent materials specially made for the project and the dynamic graphic identity of their shoeboxes. The Alberto Guardiani Wallpaper* Limited Edition Collection launches at the Pitti menswear show in Florence in June – so get ready to step out in style.
