Wallpaper* & Veuve Clicquot Re-Creation Awards 2015

Wallpaper* is a big fan of Madame Barbe-Nicole Clicquot, a keen letter writer who managed the Reims-based champagne house Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin from 1805 to 1866, encouraging her family and employees to 'invent the things of tomorrow... go before others, be determined and exacting... let your intelligence direct your life. Act with audacity.'

Veuve Clicquot and Wallpaper* invited you to act with audacity too, by taking part in the Re-Creation Awards and reinterpreting the 2015 Clicquot Mailbox.

Reimagine the mailbox

The Veuve Clicquot Re-Creation Awards project, supported by Wallpaper*, invites you to submit graphic designs and colourways for the 2015 Clicquot Mailbox, a version of the classic US mailbox, resized to make it the perfect fit for a 0.75-litre bottle of champagne.

Sending in a mailbox design is easier than licking a stamp.

Go to the website for all the information and tools necessary to submit a unique design.

“Be determined and exacting,” just as Madame Clicquot advised. “Let intelligence, and imagination direct your creativity.”

Your work exhibited

The Re-Creation Awards launch on 1 October 2014. All submissions are due by 15 November 2014. Two national winners will be determined from each country, one by an online public vote, the other by a local jury, between 15 November and 15 December 2014.

A shortlist of 18 winning designers will be delivered to Veuve Clicquot’s Hôtel du Marc, in the Champagne region of France, for a prestigious two-day experience. An international jury of influential names in design will choose the ultimate mailbox creation, to be revealed at a gala ceremony on 9 April 2015 and awarded the €10,000 prize. The overall winner’s design will be distributed worldwide.

The contest’s events and ceremony will be tracked by Wallpaper*, and the winning Clicquot Mailbox design presented at Milan Design Week 2015.

You’ll have to wait to find out what gets Wallpaper’s first-class vote – but now it’s time to cast yours. We are leaving it up to you to decide which designers will make it into the final stage of the Veuve-Clicquot Recreation Awards. Until 15 December, you will be able to vote for your favourite entries online.
