The design calendar’s most significant event is fast approaching. Assembling in Milan, devotees will be prepping to take on the city for the annual Salone del Mobile (12-17 April), marking the unofficial start to the design season. The ever-growing affair spreads itself over the Italian metropolis from pockets of Brera district travelling all the way to the Rho fairground with the vast installations, new releases and parties getting even more avant-garde and innovative each year. Swarovski’s sparkling new branch, Atelier Swarovski Home, falls under the Atelier Swarovski aegis, an enterprise launched in 2007 to create fashion accessories with international designers. Featuring the likes of Daniel Libeskind, Ron Arad, Raw Edges and Tord Boontje, Atelier Swarovski Home’s inaugural collection includes centrepieces, entertaining and home office objects crafted from crystal combined with mixed materials such as marble, metals and resins.
