When it comes to true luxury, the finest garments are as beautiful inside as they are out. The autumn catwalks demonstrated they were all killer no filler, with labels looking to eye-catching clothing linings, to lift their garments into new levels of opulence. Salvatore Ferragamo lined monochromatic outerwear with archive foulard silks printed with birds, foliage and baroque details, while Gucci lined its preppy corduroy suiting with a soft blush silk printed with roses. At Etro, a luxurious velvet jacket was lined with a detailed newspaper print, inspired by the Italian label’s imagined readerly pursuits of its modern dandy. With linings like these, they’re worth wearing inside out.
