Size matters: the designer bag is getting bigger and better again
After seasons of impractical minis, the designer bag is heading back to a size range that can actually ‘handle’ our packed lives. Saint Laurent’s new shoulder star, the Large Envelope, is an evolution of its cult, chain-strapped Envelope Monogram. Featuring a graphic combination of three quilted patterns and a threaded gold strap, this marine blue, matelassé suede beauty also goes across-body to redistribute heavier lifting. And it looks like the days of carrying dual accoutrements to share the load may finally be drawing to a close as oversized bags were spotted on the Paris catwalks of Balenciaga, Loewe and Sonia Rykiel.
