Lonely’s flagship in Auckland has a soft industrial feel

The delicacy of Lonely’s lingerie, lounge and swimwear is amplified by the interior design of their new flagship store in Ponsonby, Auckland. Designer Rufus Knight explores the idea of ’soft industrial’ in the boutique’s fit out, with hard materials offset by textured oak parquetry and natural fabrics.

Hand-rendered plaster, aluminium mesh and marble are detailed to accentuate their surface qualities, and to create a gradient of privacy. A large sandblasted marble wall shields the shop interior from the busy street and twin mesh screen walls further veil the central garment display space. Changing rooms are tucked behind a second marble wall and are afforded the ultimate luxury of white merino carpet. The whole experience is intimate, dreamy and sophisticated.
