Back in May we announced Wallpaper's collaboration with Fortune magazine to find the world's best business hotels. Our expert panel of judges have since whittled the 50 contenders down to ten outstanding hotels, including one overall winner.

The winning hotel, the Fasano has become the place to be on Ipanema Beach, along with Fasano al Mare, its centrepiece Italian seafood restaurant headed by Michelin award-winning chef Luca Gozzani. Philippe Starck designed the building and its interiors with a surprisingly Brazilian flair, incorporating home-grown elements like Sergio Rodrigues' iconic 'Poltrona Diz' armchairs. This Fasano maintains the sophistication of the Sao Paulo original, but with a nod to its Rio environs. The 92 rooms are all luxurious, and the rooftop pool is the sexiest venue in town.
