Making an impression in the competitive Swiss watch world is no easy task. Spurning the bells and whistles of status symbol timepieces, Maurice Lacroix has carved its own path with a fine balance of authenticity and innovation.

As such, when it came to choosing three designers to reimagine Maurice Lacroix's 'Pontos Décentrique GMT' watch for a Wallpaper* collaboration, this marriage of authenticity and the contemporary was key.

Wallpaper* sought designers who followed their convictions, whose work embodied their own style and was never compromised. The result is an impressive trio.

French-born, Tokyo-based Gwenaël Nicolas, who has functional furniture for Cassina and store design for Uniqlo on his CV; Arik Levy, whose eclectic back catalogue is unbounded by discipline; and Neil Barrett, a rare independent British fashion designer based in Milan.

Each will now create a limited-edition version of Maurice Lacroix's Red Dot Award winning 'Pontos Décentrique GMT' watch. While the designers add their own touches to what is fast becoming a classic, we've put together a brief introduction (right) to each creative character - which should no doubt offer some insight into what best to expect from each new addition to the Maurice Lacroix back catalogue.
