Art as a force for positive change is currently receiving a very literal manifestation at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris. In a project sponsored by Nike, more than 20 of the world's leading artists, including Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, Andreas Gursky and Tom Sachs, have each created a brand new work inspired by survivorship. The exhibition is called Stages and all proceeds go to Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Global Cancer Campaign.

The exercise of a themed commission for such a diverse group of leading creatives is one that doesn't happen too often. As such 'Stages' is more than just a roundabout opportunity to support a charity, and more than an opportunity to see a group of big names under one roof, it's an exploration of how different artists with different visions, techniques and media, from around the world, tackle a themed commission.
