Watch as Prada erects an illuminated show set in new Rem Koolhaas-designed extension of the Prada Foundation
Miuccia Prada held her brand’s A/W 2018 runway show over several floors of the new Rem Koolhaas-designed extension of the Prada Foundation in Milan. As usual, the designer teamed up with AMO (the research arm of Rem Koolhaas’ OMA studio), on a show set which featured the surface of each floor painted in black reflective paint. As guests entered the space, they were in swathed and suspended in darkness. As they nestled on rows of seating, they looked across a glass lined wall of the extension, to find the Milanese skyline illuminated with a series of neon signs - the face of an alien, a bunch of bananas, a stegosaurus, the outline of a cartoon monkey. Miuccia Prada was fascinated with the concept of going out at night for A/W 2018, dressing her models in gauzy neon dresses, paired with protective accessories like rubber workman’s boots and fluro gaiters. As the show began, guests too become enveloped in the futuristic nighttime landscape of the Prada universe.
