Luxury London department store Harrods has added yet another impressive restaurant to its growing roster, this time, with modern Chinese eatery, Chai Wu, located on its fifth floor. Part of the Mango Tree group, owned by Malaysian restaurateur Eddie Lim, Chai Wu offers an exciting menu conceived by chef Jason See Meng Hwa. Strictly speaking, the cuisine is pan-Asian, spanning dim sum to Wagyu steaks, though the space - designed by Mango Tree’s in-house design firm, Harrison - is wholly Chinese, inspired by the country’s five philosophical elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The dining room is interspersed with marble, timber and leather and features a showpiece charcoal grill surrounded by a bar, allowing guests to watch the chefs in action.
