Araks: Designer Araks Yeramyan, of the cult NY swimwear label Arks, has teamed up with London-based multimedia artist Quentin Jones for a S/S 2016 capsule collection that’s sure to turn just as many heads in the city as it will on the sand. The union sees the lingerie and swim designer’s minimalistic lines and unexpected colour palette painted with Jones' signature graphic brushstrokes that are a mainstay of her striking collaged works.

Frescobol Carioca: ‘We want to stay true to the DNA of the brand in its representation of Rio’s lifestyle,’ says Harry Brantly, one half of Brazilian swim brand Frescobol Carioca. ‘We started with the mosaic sidewalks seen along the coastline of Rio and then moved into the urban landscape,’ adds co-founder Max Leese of S/S 2016 collection’s curved foundations. ‘Oscar Niemeyer is the iconic architectural figure of Brazil, his work has tremendously changed the face of Brazilian cities and we love the soft hand-sketches of his buildings that inspired our “Modernismo” collection’
Lisa Marie Fernandez: The American designer checked into the season’s gingham trend in a big way for S/S 2016, exchanging her signature neoprene for a more graphic plaid seersucker. Swinging from bold and sporty to soft and feminine, Fernandez toyed with more modest proportions for her latest line, teaming Fifties-style bottoms with bandeau tops, and cropped off-the-shoulder blouses with scanter bikini briefs. Sticking to the retro theme, Fernandez also introduced a ready-to-wear spin on the beach cover-up, with matching ‘twin-set’ cardigan tops offering a stylish update of the ubiquitous caftan
Orlebar Brown: Founder Adam Brown has collaborated with Greek artist Konstantin Kakanias for a second time, utilising the creative’s award winning illustrations on a collection of abstract botanical and butterfly prints. ‘I saw Konstantin’s work in the New York Times and loved it,’ says Brown of the contemporary multimedia artist’s work. ‘It struck an absolute cord with what OB is all about.’ Also new for Orlebar Brown this summer is the brand’s updated ‘SnapShorts’ app, which allows clients to upload their own photo to print, Slim Aarons-style, onto a pair of swim shorts within a snappy three-week turnaround
Triangl: Hong Kong expat Australians Erin Deering and Craig Ellis founded Triangl in 2012 after Erin’s hunt for a fashionable, yet affordable bikini under the $100 mark, left her high and dry in the swim stakes. The pair have been riding a whirlwind wholesale wave ever since, choosing to sell their costumes exclusively online, much to the chagrin of some of the world’s biggest retailers, who have been left to court their luxe piped neoprene and faux crochet bikinis from their 2.9 million-strong Instagram account instead
Vilebrequin: Famed seaside photographer Massimo Vitali has been cast adrift to the Provençal Hotel in the Giens peninsula of Italy for his second capsule collection for the Saint Tropez swimwear brand. Moving past France’s sandy shores, this season Vitali has captured Italy’s rock bathers at this legendary swimming spot, which was founded in 1951 by Marius Michel, who was also responsible for designing the first ever salt water pool cut right from the rock
Prism: Abstract leopard print and linear illusions reverberate off Londoner Anna Laub’s latest high swim collection that’s doing its best to upstage her renowned fashion frames. Laub’s one-stop Chiltern Street holiday shop (which houses her unique destination edit of sunglasses, beachwear and espadrilles) is also taking its own spring vacation, popping up in East London at 42 Redchurch Street until 15 May
Ron Dorff: Paris-Stockholm men’s lifestyle brand Ron Dorff – founded by Frenchman Jérôme Touron and Swede Claus Lindorff – has certainly not been shy about breaking into the contemporary loungewear market and neither is their style savvy swim. Marrying Scandinavian functionality with French classicism, primary hued plains and bold stripes make up their trunk and short edit, identifiable in the water by Ron Dorff's double eyelet detail that forgoes any OTT branding
Zimmermann: Nicky Zimmermann travelled along Australia’s untouched east coast with model Lily Donaldson in tow for the Sydney brand’s S/S 2016 collection, which was punctuated by lingerie finishes and plunging necklines. Here the classic black one-piece gets a sporty makeover courtesy of sleek corsetry and gold metal D-rings that are guaranteed not to overheat under the hot Aussie sun
