What do you do?
I own the vintage couture store Decades in Los Angeles and do a lot of fashion consulting.
Where are you based?
Los Angeles.
How many couture seasons have you attended?
On and off for the last six or so years.
How do they differ from the regular fashion weeks?
Less shows, more civilized, and way more expensive!
What’s your most memorable moment?
Attending my first Valentino Couture show and seated front row between Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington.
What’s the best thing about attending the Couture collections?

The people-watching.
And the worst?
Trying to look elegant during the July shows when there is no air conditioning and no ventilation and I am melting inside!
What do you look for whilst there?
I love how legacy brands like Chanel and Dior use their established DNA to design collections with new ideas every season.
Is there anything you avoid?
I don’t go to every show. Couture is different from Prêt a Porter and I am very selective about what I attend as I try to make it fun and not too much of a hustle.
How do you remember what you see?
I take notes, I take pictures, and every evening I meet with friends who are clients of the Couture and we speak of our favorite looks.
What’s the single best tip you can pass on for a first time attendee?

Wear sensible shoes... I have seen many a fashion icon take a spill in her stilettos!
