After the black widow opulence of Winter, Veronique Nichanian's Hermès man meandered down the print road, in an optimistic, sun-drenched collection rich in pictorial intricacies, great and small. The 'great' came from the earth, in a powdery palette of hemp, limestone and sandy shades that made up her Fragments print - a giant mosaic of stony blocks struck through with graphic black fissures - and the 'small' zoomed into a scarf design of labyrinthine, walled gardens dense with foliage in colours of petrol green, inky blue, gunmetal grey and a dash of shocking pink. That natural mix of brutal and delicate inspirations was explored through a plethora of luxe sporty shapes like a cape or anorak in sailcloth and airy poplin, while Hermès staples like the bomber and Harrington jacket were double-faced in suede or inlaid with sheer muslin.
