Clemens en August/ Liam Gillick shoe collaboration

You know the world has become a smaller and more exciting place when your bespoke shoes are measured up in an art gallery in one city and made in another.
Which is precisely what Clemens en August is offering its globetrotting clients.
Each season, the German fashion label undertakes a grand tour of around 13 cities around the globe including Zurich, Tokyo, Berlin and New York to display their men’s and women’s collections in pop-up spaces before selling the lot online. This season, it has teamed up with British conceptual artist Liam Gillick to create a line of bespoke shoes.
Riffing off one of his earlier works, Gillick literally punches through the black leather uppers of ’Left Shoe Right Shoe’ with a series of random dots patterns. It takes a moment of looking down before you realize the pattern on each shoe is not a mirror image of the other.
Foot measurements will be taken in London from 5-7 May at the Rochelle School in gritty Shoreditch and the finished shoes will be ready in four to six weeks, though ready to wear standard sizes are available. A pair of "Left Shoe Right Shoe" costs £500 which we recognize isn’t cheap, but just think how many heads you’ll turn when you stride into that boardroom.
