Straddling the art/design boundary like a pair of pros, Gerson Oliveira and Luciana Martins of Sao Paulo design team Ovo have come to the fore in the past year or so with their intuitive design approach.

With sofas in the style of dilapidated park benches, expansive consolation lights and bright, blocky storage units, the pieces are simple - clean shapes, glass and blanched surfaces abound – and the effect is unforeseen. Functional and formal, each piece is afforded a humorous twist – the cubed-in, mini-sun illuminations being a particular favourite. Constructed in conjunction with a whole host of big name manufacturers, Ovo are just as involved in the design process as they are in the production, and the results are clear to see.
