New York Design Week 2018 preview
Although following hot on the heels of Salone del Mobile on the design calendar, NYCxDesign (11–23 May) has stayed the course to become a vibrant, inspiring showcase of American design and creativity. This year’s iteration is set to be especially dynamic with a slew of independent designers and collectives debuting new wares on their own terms and turf. Even the behemoth International Contemporary Furniture Fair, the week’s original anchor, has shaken things up this year. Here are some of the highlights in store for the week. Writer: Pei-ru Keh
As this year’s honoree of the American Design Honours, an award set up by Wanted Design and Bernhardt Design’s Jerry Helling, Oliver Haslegrave of Home Studios is deservedly having his time in the spotlight. A veteran at creating stylish interiors and having launched the studio’s product line, Homework, just last year, Haslegrave will present several new introductions in a specially designed installation at Wanted Design Manhattan.
