London Design Festival 2017 preview
Summer may be winding down in London, but things in the British capital are just hotting up. The London Design Festival (16-24 September) is set to kick off this week, with galleries, museums and studios in all corners of the metropolis poised for action. This year – in addition to popular staples like the Landmark projects and V&A installations – the festival is upping the ante, introducing Mayfair as the newest bustling design hub, as well as the inaugural Design Frontiers exhibition at Somerset House. From Shoreditch’s hidden pockets to Chelsea’s well-heeled design district, we’ve mapped out the top 20 exhibitions, installations and events not to be missed...
Writers: Rosa Bertoli, Sujata Burman, Holly Patrick
Mayfair’s Mazzoleni Gallery is launching a new series of collaborations – ‘Mazzoleni Invites’ – and first up is Dimore Gallery. Delving into Mazzoleni’s archive and their own collections, Dimore founders Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci have created five different rooms (living room pictured) inspired by post-war Italian art. Visible only through a porthole, each room is no more than a mise en scène – you can look but you can’t touch.
