Travel wise: Porter & Sail makes knowing where to go even easier
Of all the new-fangled travel apps out there, the recently launched Porter & Sail particularly caught our attention with its stylish good looks. Modelling itself after a hotel concierge, the app has partnered up with a succinct list of hotels around the world to provide an astute menu of recommendations tailored to suit its guests.
Armed with self-produced content that brings in the expertise of both locals and well-travelled tastemakers, Porter & Sail offers a mix of memorable eating, drinking, cultural and shopping spots, whether its on the exclusive or hole-in-the-wall ends of the spectrum. Words and photography are all created in-house and managed from its New York base to ensure that the tone of the app is always on point.
Access to the app is currently granted exclusively to guests who stay at Porter & Sail’s partner hotels. This group is currently comprised of ten properties, including The Freehand in Miami, London’s Town Hall Hotel, Tommie in New York and The Patina, Capitol in Singapore. Thanks to its location capabilities, the app is able to provide guests with insider tips, neighbourhood background and favourite spots as they go along their way. The app’s feed notifies its users with prompts whenever one of its recommendations passes by.
With dedicated guides to New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Milan already in the works, and more hotels lined up to join in the future, knowing where to go is set to become even easier.
'Our curated encounters extend the hotel beyond its walls into the metropolitan landscape, transforming the guest experience both on and off property,' says Caitlin Zaino, Porter & Sail's co-founder and CEO. 'By networking the hotel with local experiences, the whole city becomes your resort.'
