Times are tough, the recession is casting its dark shadow and against this backdrop high fashion can at times seem a somewhat foolhardy and frivolous option.
Timed to perfection then, Gap has come up with a global collection that is friendly on the pocket with no compromise on quality or class. Launched on Monday, the collection is signature Gap casualwear treated with European elegance that offers comprehensive wardrobe solutions.

Luxuriously soft merino sweaters, washed silk t- shirts, easy-to-wear dresses in bright colours and sheerling jackets and vests - the collection was all lined up Gap-style casually on a platform for all to view. Pierre Hardy’s chunky- heeled sheep skin boots are just the ticket for keeping our toes in with the high end too.
So why London and not New York? Always reassuringly American, Gap is now designed by an international team from Europe, Japan as well as the US and this is just the beginning of their new strategy to present a more global front – an initiative we applaud wholeheartedly.
